Forum: WiGLE WiFi Wardriving Bugs
I have occasionally seen this happen - rebooting the phone fixes the problem every time so I suspect it's just an Android issue, something probably got "updated" but didn't require a restart. Android apps seem to get updated all the time so I assume there are a lot of small issues in the background ...

Hacking WiFi passwords isn't a Wigle problem, Wigle just records the locations and SSIDs, it's as private information as a weather forecast. If you need to find out how easy it is to hack WiFi then buy a WiFi pineapple from Hak5.

I saw your post and tried it on my Pixel3 running Android 11 - you are right that the start at boot is not working any longer, there have been a massive amount of changes to the Android OS with the latest release so this is no big surprise.
It's a Pixel 3, it was running Android 10 but it updated to Android 11 this morning. After I headed into work I turned Wigle on, driving my normal route, and every device and AP that I passed showed up as a "new" device! I thought that the upgrade had deleted my database but when I arrived at work I...
Wigle started up and stalled this morning saying that it was "Waiting for GPS" - turns out that Google seems to have decided that I need to give permission for Wigle to access my location, something that has not been an issue in years. I went to the Google location setting and it displayed a new lis...
It took a bit of fiddling around but I managed to upload it by copying it to Google Drive and then manually uploading it (twice by accident, sorry about that). Turns out the file was a lot larger than I was expecting so it may just have been a size issue. I'll clear the phone and reinstall Wigle.
I am getting a message on my Nexus 5X running Android 8.1.0 each time I try to upload to wigle.net Fail Exception Error:io problem: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: timeout File location: /storage/emulated/0/wiglewifi/WigleWifi_20200308074359.csv It uploads the file and displays 100% and then hangs ...

Looking at the Google Play Android page I saw "Thanks for your interest! While the app is a bit of an expert tool, maybe the forums at https://wigle.net can provide some insight! Feel free to reach out with questions there or in email" so here I am (LOL) just to see if there is anything here and aft...

I would expect that the Wigle app could be modified to provide an alert when a specific ID is found but the problem is that Wigle can then be used for hunting.
On Android 10, in programming options throttling can be turned off.
Thanks - I just upgraded my Pixel to Android 10 and it's working great once I became "a developer" and turned the scanning limit off - prior to the upgrade I would ...

I wonder if there might be a market for an app that simply records the last 48 hours of nearby wireless devices (particularly BT devices) with the option to search for them in the database and display some statistics or send an alert is a specific ID appeared. This might be a potential security app ...

I did a quick edit to remove the logos if this helps - the file appears to be too big to upload here so I've posted it on pixeldrain - it will be available for 100 days.

Topic: Cell phone coverage maps?
There's an interesting story (link below) about the state of Vermont checking the phone company claims for cell phone coverage and finding that they are very misleading - it is possible that Wigle could be used to guide a project like this? http://digital.vpr.net/post/state-official-went-roaming-aro...
