Re: Mapping MiFi or Mobile 3G/4G/WiFi Hotspots?

It's going to happen. I'm not going out to purposely map them, but I'm also not going to go attempt to manually cull my data before uploading . . .

The programmers for Wigle are more than competent enough to filter it, if it ever becomes a real issue, etc.

Re: the most wonderful time of the year.

Good stuff, thanks ;)

BTW, the cert is listed under mozdev, for anyone who didn't get their x.509 viewing on before accepting the CA <grin>

high gain antenna recommendations ?

Currently using a http://amzn.to/f8c1Zw 5 dbi omni antenna, direct connected on the receiver and clipped on the dash ;) Hoping to upgrade, and eventually move it outside the vehicle. Wondering what folks are using for higher gain antennas, and magnetic mounts as well. Naturally, I'm trying to mag mo...

Re: No love for 2^5?

Dunno how many folks will even expand your binary notation - a lot of folks don't tend to think in multiples of that, unless they have certain hobbies or professions ;)

Re: Can't upload logfile (error, too big)

Thanks Bobzilla, I had since noted that too via Trial & Error (I'm good at error!) by testing upload of each - every time, there are some points not-in-common among the 3. For those who have had similar difficulties and are actually using the search feature here  : The solution that worked...

Re: Can't upload logfile (error, too big)

Sorry to dis-inter this thread, but I too would like to know. It's a lot simpler just to leave the file logging every 30 seconds, as I drive, drive .... drive ;) Or a log splitter for the preferred format from Kismet. So far, by trial & error only, I've found : in your .tar.gz file, using -9 com...

I also purchased one recently, based on advice I found in various threads in this forum ;) Like it so far, even mounted dash-top under the windscreen.

new Kismet laptop : general Newb questions :)

Good day all, Am setting up a single purpose small laptop for Kismet use, and was wondering what log file formats folks are using, to retain the most data. Laptop is nothing special, Acer Aspire 1410, CPU is SU2500 / 4g ram / 250g HD but should be fine for this? I see at http://wigle.net/gps/gps/mai...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Excellent, good to know about the application! Just getting started in all of this. I should have also mentioned there were no other foreground programs running at the time on a Sprint CDMA Hero, etc. but naturally, with my sample size of one , it could've been anything else stuttering in my little ...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Great application. Would love a periodic way to log to 'disk', even if uploaded later. I found in my exuberance for your cool application that once I had a lot of new points, it really started bogging my android down when I hadn't saved in many hundreds of new points. Appreciate everyone's work on t...
