Re: Maps Not Updating

Hi TheoJones BobZilla looked at my uploads and found that valid data points had created map points, but there were several invalid data points in my data as well. Open one of the .CSV files that you thought should have created more map points - using MS-Excel is handy for this. Then look for the fol...

Re: Maps Not Updating

Thanks Bobzilla. I can see the points you identified from my logs as being on the map. I'll go through the traces for the areas I mapped to see if I can find segments that didn't get mapped, if any. My problem is that whole streets that I know I trawled on those runs show no hits, only points I have...

Re: Maps Not Updating

This has happened to me too. Just recently. I have not seen updates from any of my recent runs, even though the upload stats show new WiFi. The two most recent examples show in the log as follows: 20160113-00358 Completed Successfully 100% 13 2016-01-13 16:15:16 WigleWifi_20160114081502.csv 525,626 ...

Re: SQL SELECT on Wigle database ?

no, and no. Ok. Thanks for that. Is there a reason for that ? Is it 'no, and no, not ever', or 'no, but maybe sometime in the future'? also, what makes you think it is a sql database? Just a hunch based on what I've seen of the project so far. The Android war-driving client uses the super-cool ligh...

SQL SELECT on Wigle database ?

Is it possible to issue an SQL select on the whole Wigle Database (the one at wigle.net) via an SQL client, to get the same table columns that are in our own WiGLEWiFi.SQLITE database Location and Network tables? I tried the online form (http://wigle.net/gps/gps/GPSDB/query/) to query Lat/Lons aroun...

Re: Color legend for the Interactive Map?

1. The Android code that supplies the 'capabilities' field appears to be com.google.android/android/[v.r.m]/android.net.wifi.ScanResult I need to do a bit more digging to see if that source code will reveal how the capabilities are interpreted into the strings we see. 2. For a wide range of acronyms...

Re: Color legend for the Interactive Map?

Thanks uthu. What might be valuable then is to construct a list of these and make it available on the Wigle website. I hereby volunteer to collect as many of those that I can and post them back to this forum. If I miss any perhaps others can fill in the gaps. If we end up with a useful list it could...

Meanings of Authmodes?

Thanks Bobzilla.

Can you also tell me what [ESS] means, and CCMP, and PBC and WPA2-? and -preauth, mean in the scan data that the Wigle Android client reports.

Cheers, MD.

New Selection Criteria

What do you think of adding selection criteria on the Web Map to filter: * By Manufacturer (or perhaps by range of MAC addresses). * Exclude mobile devices (by excluding android and iPhone devices by either manufacturer or by ranges of MAC addresses). The reason for asking to exclude mobile devices,...

Re: Color legend for the Interactive Map?

I'm outside USA, (most Homo sapiens are). A legend showing the meaning of the colors does not have to be on the map itself. It could be a link from the main page with text like "Legend". As well as the meaning of the colors of the dots on the map, it would be really handy to have a legend ...

Re: Australian wardrivers

I've just gotten onto Wigle Net.
I've recently war-driven/ridden/walked a bit around South Perth, Como (where I live) and UWA (where I work).
Cheers, Mark.

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Server-side uses all observations from all observers. Client side is last-one-wins currently, we can probably make that better. I support the original poster's suggestion for triangulating, and/or using the best signal strength reading for the 'position' of a given wifi node. At present I can drive...
