Re: Real or Memorex?

Maybe the "answer" is a restructuring of - or addition to - the points system. Repeat observations are required to accurately determine a networks location, and especially confirmation of other users submissions is valuable. Long term surveys are valuable, give some measure of credit to &q...

Hey I just wanted to drop a line to say "thanks" to the WiGLE.net team... recently the web maps rendering speed way faster, and much less pauses in operation! Thank you guys for all your hard work and generous donations of time. also check this guys site for some ideas on iPhone GSM stumbl...

What could be done to extend Wigle to Bluetooth LowEnergy/iBeacon mapping? Seems these devices are getting a lot of interest...

Re: Equipment test: Alfa Signal Amplifier Booster

My excitement was in seeing a piece of PERL code parsing .netxml files. My own solution to this point has been perl parsing .nettxt into MySQL, but I'm not a very good programmer so it's taken more work than I'd like to get everything parsed, correlated and indexed correctly. If you're dreaming of P...

Re: WRT54G makes even greatER Kismet drone in 2014!

Unfortunately for me, wardriving is and must always be a zero-dollar hobby. Fortunately for me, I have 14 working WRT54G ; ) Most fully mod'd with 2GB SD cards and hardware GPS for self-contained kismet. I let my less-fortunate friends borrow them in their cars. Reception is already pretty good, but...

Cellular Stumbling

Can anyone suggest USB modems or tethered smartphones or MiniPCIe cards and how one could integrate them into a Linux kismet rig? Is there any logging software? I'd love to pull GSM Timing-Advance data thru SiMToolkit... iPhone 3G had excellent GSM logging (because of old software, before apple crip...

Re: File parsing seems to be halted...

Just to post an update... the kittens finally gnawed through my upload (the time per file shows 50% to 100% longer than I would usually expect), but the "stats" page has not updated either my last upload date, nor my newly detected APs. Nearly 1000 files in the queue right now.

Re: File parsing seems to be halted...

Per the "offtopic" feature-request thread from yesterday, (here in this necropost... ; ) we're aware. everything will be processed by cold, calculating datakittens in the order it was received. My first upload of the month has been hanging out at #390 for 24 hours. If anybody was going to ...

Respect the timestamp!

Once upon a time, I uploaded an *old* consoldated.sqlite3 backup that included my AP from my OLD house, along with lots of other good data. Even though the file contained timestamps marking the data as several years old, it replaced the location of my AP at my NEW house (which has been consistently ...

Re: What is the problem with the queue???

#1. This is the wrong forum, but I just can't bear but to participate... I suspect current "delay" is some behind the scenes database work. In regards to uploading a "big" file, sometimes I see wigle pause for awhile. But I see the same results when uploading my data as a lot of ...

Re: Tell me about 5GHz

to me 5GHz seems to be growing fast. On average in reasonably expensive neighborhoods I see easily 10% of networks in 5GHz... however many of these neighborhoods are already scanned, so often 75% of my "new discovered" networks are on 802.11a channels. the problems are weaker signals, less...

WRT54G makes great Kismet drone, even in 2013!

I got bored stumbling with my iPhone4, so I thought I'd take it up a notch. My budget is $0, but fortunately I had a large stack of wrt54g, and several RP-TNC antennas. I spliced the powercords to the firewire port of my $0 Apple G4 PowerBook so that the drones wouldn't reboot when I stopped to get ...

Asheville, NC

Two months ago (prior June, 2013) Asheville Hendersonville Arden was pretty sparse. It's filling in quick. Who else is there? I've will log more points then you because I am the most dedicated (HA!), but would love to coordinate.
