Re: USB AC adapters in monitor mode

If you're using Linux, probably not. MTK and Realtek devices have proprietary (non-mac80211) vendor drivers. They may have some vendor-specific monitor mode, but it wouldn't be standard. Broadcom AC devices, if supported by Linux, use brcmfmac, which (AFAIK) doesn't support monitor mode. nexmon work...

Re: SSID a9f1bdf1dab1nvt4f4f59

bored, so looked through me logs some observations... *it's an ad-hoc network.. so.. naturally, the BSSID is going to be random. *the MACs of attached clients seem to be (at least / mostly) those w/ NEC OUIs (00:16:97 being among them) *devices personally observed by me appear to be stationary (mult...

Re: Alfa AWUS051NH 5.8GHz Wardriving

perhaps an NMO antenna + an NMO mount (this one this one may work - it looks like the same one I am using now)?

Re: Alfa AWUS051NH 5.8GHz Wardriving

... btw, ff you're looking for a (somewhat) low cost 5dBi dual-band antenna for the device, the stock antennas for the ASUS RT-N66U, RT-N66R, RT-AC66U, or RT-AC66R routers may suffice. They're on eBay for ~$5 from one seller at the moment.

Re: Main login

I am also unable to login to the main WiGLE page or upload via WiGLE WiFi. I have not changed my password any time since 2003, AFAIK.

My password is my standard non-secure one (the same that was probably leaked with the recent LinkedIn database breach).

Re: Alternatives to Alfa AWUS036H

A dongle with a 5dBi antenna sticking out of it might not exactly be discreet. It would also be somewhat more vulnerable to damage than a cabled adapter. There wouldn't be much in that form factor as good as the AWUS036H anyway (especially for anything requiring a transmitter). that being said, ther...

Re: Free stuff (ORiNOCO USB devices)

Just found this site....do you still anything left? Replace 'anything' with 'have everything that you started with' and the answer is 'yes'. The offer is valid until whenever I decide this is suitably monstrously idiotic. Now that this is on the 4th page of Google results for 'orinoco usb' that may...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

An option to disable WiFi scanning (monitoring cell tower observations only) would be handy for the times you have a better rig than your phone around.

Re: GlobalSat BU-353 - good?

It's a solid GPS - quite accurate, has fast signal acquisition times, very sensitive, and is dead reliable. You certainly won't regret it if you get it.

I use it and I'm happy with it.

Re: mappacks / jigle (not updated?)

I suppose it could be a similar problem encountered with my county. It's stuck at a certain date and additional queries will not add additional points.. but it should have everything before mid-2009 covered.

Re: mappacks / jigle (not updated?)

The data isn't embedded in the map. Re-query the database by reloading the map (selecting '<choose mappack>' and then your map). It doesn't load it all at once, you will need to do that a bit.
