Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

we have an on-device option to block either/both display or logging on the device - but by BSSID, not SSID, since that would be impractically broad.

click the wrench icon on the main list view!
Oh that's neat. That makes it a lot less annoying for you.

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Black list for a certian SSID. Use case - I can use it by driving, however I have in car Wifi, so this SSID will be spotted around all my drivings. You always show up in your own logs no matter what. The ignore list resides on the server and strips those MAC from the database during upload I believ...

Re: What means the "MAC" number at CellTowers

If they do, my fire-walling them doesn't appear to have an effect on how the application functions. The Database which is stored locally has a cookie trial with the signal strengths of the respective towers but that is a feature you need to turn on in the settings. The only time the pro version seem...

Re: Highway to the...

How do I get my block reset? I was trying to set it up and some how it selected a pretty much impossible to drive area. I was trying to create a rectangle that was not vertically orientated and instead did done that was super vertical.

Re: What means the "MAC" number at CellTowers

I was talking with a Verizon Engineer a couple of days ago and they claimed the Piggybacked BID was going to go away at the end of 2022. Personally I'll believe it when I see it. However that means you should probably step up detection of the LTE formatted ID's (GCI/PCI/TAC). If you record the the G...

Vehicles and Bluetooth

I know a number of years ago that you started blocking vehicles from the online database over concerns of people using the online DB to track vehicles. Now that vehicles are coming equipped with Bluetooth and BLE devices, are those also only resident in our local scans or are they being uploaded and...

Re: What means the "MAC" number at CellTowers

Arkasha, you should contact the developer of SignalCheck Pro. They have celltower tracking application that is equally as strong as WIGLE andbit captures much more than just nid-bid-sid which are CDMAish. while the providers are claiming they are shutting down CDMA, in reality its just standalone CD...

Strange javaIO timeout on upload.

Hey all this is 2.64, I have done an upload from 2.64 before but it was for about a thousand less APs. That upload was 20220430-01673.

Now when it reaches 48.5% on the upload it hangs and throws the following timeout.

It's showing about 14,000 APs total since the last upload.

Re: Noob questions: WiGle basics and real-time monitoring

Map updates are done when a user or anonymous user uploads a scan. WiGLe is neither Google nor Apple who are (ab)using every device on their platfom for that exact function when anyone turns on the "high accuracy" location method. The scan doesn't have to come from the App, that is just th...

Re: New Geographic Statistics

Yes, I've always wondered where and how you find 36000 APs every month. Though I just had a scary thought...war flying -- still that is a lot of JetA or whatever the smaller planes run.

Re: Best SSID ever

One of the local county's sheriff's cars all broadcast as SHERIFF. I see lots of people trying to go that route and failing. FBI_survaillance_van (yes it was mispelled) fbi_rpd (don't they know the fbi doesn't share) fbi_cia (unlikely as one is domestic the other international) I've noticed that mos...

Re: Detecting WiFi, a kilometer away, with an Android?

With line of sight all you need is power or antenna gain. The last I knew the unofficial wifi link record was 140km. Done using 2 4m dishes between two mountain tops in Poland. There was a DefCon contest going for a while that made 70km in Nevada. You don't need to use a solid wok either. A spider(d...

Ah, OK. There must be some massive file being munched then...
Says the guy who posted 45k new APs last month, and 202k new since January. Wish I drove a cab or something.

Re: Filtering Open Wifi

Why not just use the jigle (java) client on your pc and look by county? It has the option to sort open from secured. And yes I think the world is too dependent on Google. I like OSM because the map data is open source.
