Just curious, who is doing just to the east of Hamilton, OH? Is that you mahlerrd? You should join the group "Cincinnati Wardrivers." Yeah. If you do a time sequence, you'll be able to figure out approximately where I work and where I live. :) I've slowly spread from there, time (and baby...

Hey, you guys could create a queue of delayed items and a watchdog process on the regular queue - whenever the watchdog process notices there's no items waiting to be processed, it could inject one of the delayed items. Then, punch a bunch of those backlog jobs into the delayed queue and off you go....

I wonder, as a curmudgeon who doesn't like to attribute to coincidence anything that could be explained in another manner, if the intern's new "garbage-finding," ranking and triangulating algorithms might need a bit more testing? Or, as is usually the case when I write something, is there ...

Ignore - I should've checked more extensively before posting.

My deepest, heartfelt apologies for having thought it was anything other than the horrendous amount of APs that we users keep finding. :)

Poking Stick <tm> required?

Are uploads stuck, or is there just a really, REALLY big job tying things up?

Also, is there a way to cancel an upload? I accidentally used too permissive of a glob pattern when getting my last set of files ready and accidentally uploaded like 50 files, most of which have already been uploaded. I don't expect it to cause any problems (other than keeping the server busy for a ...

All great suggestions, thanks! As a short aside, is there a way to upload files without the web page? I mean, I could always use, say, lynx, but it'd be really great if I could just ftp them straight to wigle.net with my username and password... that'd be really easily scriptable so goldfndr's "...

.tar.gz and also .tgz?

When posting a file, the upload process should accept files named .tgz as well as .tar.gz. If that were implemented then I, a crotchety old badger, wouldn't have to relearn typing my tar command. As it stands, I tar -czf it to a .tgz, move it, upload it, watch it fail, headchuck myself, rename the f...

Oh, good point about using Kismet. I finally got something on my other laptop up and running with it (stupid picky IPW2200 cards and too-cheap me), so that's a possibility. I think I'd be happy with antennas with big nulls at 45 degrees off axis because I think the numbers I do get ought to make up ...

I guess my question is simpler than I thought. I'm really just looking for how the triangulation works in reference to additional points recorded later. How's the weighting handle that? This is all presumption based on what research I've been able to find and also some guessing. Therefore, feel free...

While the discussion at hand has been fascinating, it's led me to ask a question a friend and I have been tossing around. Instead of a single omnidirectional antenna, we were thinking, purely theoretically, of course, that having 4 somewhat directional antennas arranged in a certain pattern would be...

Nope, with only about 4 or 5 maps, it still acts exactly the same. I've recleared the cache again, too. I start Jigle, I pick Butler County, it asks me to log in to Wigle, it validates me, then spends a few moments sucking stuff down. As far as I can tell, all seems to work perfectly. I've noticed o...

QoS is at 0. I've set it to 7 and back again during one session as well. I get a series of errors when I load Jigle, but the really look like they are just because there's no map loaded by default. Here's the logfile from a session: Jul 12, 2006 8:47:13 PM org.mimezine.jigle.JiGLE loadPropertiesFile...

While I'm wary of posting in a thread that started so negatively, here goes. I have noticed a difference between Digle and Jigle. I've restarted Jigle multiple times, cleared the cache and so on, yet there's a few hundred (that I'm aware of) APs that don't show in Jigle even though they show in both...

Question regarding "Best Practices"

OK, being a bit new to this particular aspect of geekery, I have a few questions that I've not found the answers to yet in my searching. Short background to explain the question: I'm currently wardriving some areas between home and work (with netstumbler under windows at the moment), and doing it in...
