Re: Pulled over by highway patrol

heya,

Those aren't "coins" - those are the number of networks in your local database - the data you can query locally and export.

if you're looking for a specific record, try the database search function on the network SSID with the name.

Re: WiGLE WiFi for Android phone performance comparison

This insight is super-valuable! Side-by-side comparisons are really expensive/hard to do (same time, same route, more than 2-3 devices), but it would be great to get a ranking of the "best" net detecting phones. (maybe at a conference or public event where we can get people to travel the same route ...

Re: GPS accuracy

mostly - we also do cluster detection - points should "snap" not drift in a perfect world. When you se things in weird places, it generally means: 1. they were reported there, improbable though it may be 2. they're PRECISELY POISED between two clusters, or have a very small number of observations. 3...

Reminder: Query Limits and responsible use

Hey, apparently folks need to hear this again: every WiGLE user has a daily query limit associated with their account. This keeps the service available for everyone without costing $ALL_THE_MONEY. If you deploy code that REALLY doesn't respect your daily limit, we'll disable your account. If you try...

Re: lastupdt : invalid date format

Depending on your other query parameters and intended use, it varies! You can see which networks were seen more and less recently using the sliders on the webmaps. using startTransID and endTransIDs are a very reliable way of bounding on upload time if you want to date-limit your query - give those ...

Re: Planning on buying a new phone

Using Android 12 on my Pixel 5 with excellent results. I've had mixed luck with scanning on Samsung phones in general vs. Google - whether it's power-saving or driver support, they don't seem to get as many nets in the same area with the same scan settings (Z-Flip on Android 11 and an old A10e on 10).

Re: lastupdt : invalid date format

ah, sorry - probably a bad mix of documentation conventions - the square brackets indicate optional elements, not required formatting.
so value values are:

Code: Select all

20210601

Code: Select all

202106011200

Code: Select all

20210601120000

Re: Map website access issue

yeah - a weird/creepy bug. fwiw, ERSI has NO integration with our user accounts, so definitely shouldn't/can't be asking for them.

Re: Map website access issue

ESRI appears to have pushed out a bad update yesterday for some reason. They seem to have resolved it - if you force refresh the page, is the issue still happening for you?

Re: GPS accuracy

these issues happen because of several reasons: 1. the long lines sound like GPS issues - these are (unfortunately) common in older devices. 2. points are trilaterated - the centers of the signal are estimated according to an algorithm. Bad GPS coordinates can contribute to points being located in o...
