Re: Creating a driving rig

well, you've come to the right place! I won't presume to choose between the many projects posted to this forum, but a search for "rig" should give you a fun survey! Assuming you're using modern kismet, you'll need more than a pi W zero (I use 2016 kismet on one of those with an eInk display as a "ke...

Re: last 4 uploads stuck on trilaterating...

probably more to do with our back-end systems than how you upload - it all passes through the same channel.

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

Pausing the scan stops the WiFi scanner; cycling the WiFi radio is a more power-intensive operation than running the GPS. If you're not moving, Pausing the scan is a fine idea. There isn't currently a way to clear the run or new count, since those numbers indicate "since the app was started this tim...

Re: Map does not show in Xubuntu 20.04LTS VM in FF or Chrome

good thing - that would be a hard one for us to debug!
ESRI's mapping core works most places most of the time, not sure how we'd get them to change anything!

Cheers, and thanks for your interest!

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

Hm, ok - So this changes the pathology. It's common to lose and regain GPS with some frequency; that's not necessarily a cause for alarm. What's uncommon in this description is the WiFi jamming; that's bad. If that's happening frequently, it would absolutely explain your issues, and there are severa...

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

which GPS jam message are you seeing?

We have:
no GPS fix
No GPS detected in device!
Please turn on GPS
but the only time we mention jamming actively is WiFi not GPS:
WiFi appears jammed, turning off, and then on, WiFi.
let us know which message you're seeing?

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

This is bad news - obviously your phone's from a big manufacturer, but I can't reproduce the problem on my devices (from them or otherwise), or explain this simply. It's true that if the OS stops background activities, we can't detect or overcome that easily, but it's strange that this is happening ...

Re: I want more queries

The answer for limit increase requests is always: "Email us with your project and username, anticipated needs" and we'll evaluate! This seems like a great project and we'll do what we can to help you, but we should point out that this is almost exactly the use case we developed Magic Eight Balls to ...

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

It sounds like you've covered the bases; I worry this is going to be a tough one.

Keep us posted with the results of these initial checks, drive safe, and we'll get this problem solved.

Re: WiGLE location no longer runs in 'background'

Hm, there's a lot to unpack there. Thanks for the bug report, let's dig in. Notes/questions: 1. the GPS toast probably pops up a lot saying "found location"/"lost location" - I'd treat that as a red herring, but the first suggestion below will give you a sense of how accurate your location is over t...

Re: Auto upload

Thanks for your interest! The short version is because there are too many combinations of possible factors that go into automatic upload. There are folks who have data caps or roaming fees to contend with, who only want to upload over trusted networks, or who don't want to disclose their location (d...

Re: Why are the neighbors networks centralized over my house?

Hi Chris, First of all, if you're not seeing their devices connected your router, it's very possible that there's nothing nefarious going on. The networks are "trilaterated" on the web maps based on where the strongest signals have been observed over time - so if you're just measuring from your plac...

Re: Problems with queue and language

The queue is global (not just specific to you) - it serves as rough barometer of the "wait" time for unprocessed files!

Re: Issue with network names/detection time being cached on main networks screen.

can you tell us what happens specifically? what app version you're running?
