Mobile Mark Mini-Mag IMAG5-2400 Antenna

These things are as low as $30 on ebay. I've paid more than twice that elsewhere. Don't I feel like a fool?

Alfa AWUS051NH 5.8GHz Wardriving

Took one of these out for a test ride today. I was surprised I was getting hits even with a 2.4GHz antenna. Looks like I'll have to add this to my mix of cards.

Re: RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

I'm wondering if I can kludge together a better omni-directional antenna myself.
After doing some reading about antenna design and physics, I'm starting to think this wont be that easy.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it ironic that a website devoted to wireless snooping opens with a banner protesting invasion of privacy?

Re: GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

Well, after spending an evening mucking around with this thing, it works, but damned if I know why it works now or why it didn't want to work in the first place. I have it on a 3 foot extension cable now (it was on a 6 footer). It ignores gpsctl commands half the time; sometimes I could get it into ...

Re: Rasberry Pi

what is the blue-ish Alfa Wifi "N" adapter That is the Alfa AWUS036NH, probably the best 802.11n wireless card for kismet. I suspect that the H, which is better at detection, can also detect "n" wireless, but I'm not sure, so I favor running both these cards at the same time mys...

Re: 4 Alfa AWUS036 series USB wifi networking cards compared

Update

After further experience with these cards, it appears that kismet doesn't load very good drivers for the NHA. So for now I favor the H and the NH.

Re: GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

I suspect that my problem is an USB extension cable that is too long.

Re: GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

Curiously, Kali comes with kismet installed, but not gpsd. Once gpsd is installed, the BU-353 is plug-and-play. The S4, which is supposed to be better, doesn't get a signal. At least it worked sometimes in BackTrack.

Re: GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

Thanks for the info. Messing around with the gpsd settings now due to upgrading to Kali Linux.

The BU-353-S4 is labeled "G-STAR IV" on the top and has model number BU-353S4 on the bottom.

The BU-353 is labeled "GPS" on the top and has model number BU-353 on the bottom.

Re: RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

Thanks! I'll probably get one of those. Almost the same dbi for half the price!

The cable quality seems to 1/2 that of the fab corp. antenna, but 1/2 as long, so it probably washes out.

RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

Anybody know anything about this antenna? I can't find any reviews or comments about it, and it costs enough that I don't want to risk purchasing it with no idea how it will perform. The cable looks a little on the skimpy side, but it's hard to tell from the pix. http://www.radiolabs.com/products/an...

GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

Anybody have any luck with this new model of the BU-353? I thought my old BU-353 was giving me problems so I bought a S-4, but Kismet keeps dropping its connection, and when it does work Kismet says it's getting unexpected characters. Meanwhile, it turns out that the problems I was having with the o...
