Re: WiGLE: a new look

I love the solution ;-) Or maybe I'm just not getting my javascript to update... if ( (ua.indexOf('safari') != -1) && (ua.indexOf('chrome')== -1)) { WiGLE.defaultLoc = false; console.log("Dear Safari Users: you don't get geolocation because your browser is horrible"); } else { navigator.geolocation....

Re: WiGLE: a new look
pleased to report that the safari location "bounce" bug should be fixed, although a force-refresh of JS assets may be required to get the fix.
I am still getting asked repeatedly to allow access to Location using Safari 7.1 under OS X 10.9.5. I have to click "Allow for one d...

Re: WiGLE: a new look

Nice new look! There seem to be a variety of links to the old-style pages, I've ended up on the old Uploads page a few times, and my iPhone showed the old-style main page. On my MacBook Pro (10.9.5) just now using Safari, the main page prompted over and over again (at least 6 times) to allow wigle.n...

Re: 120 Million Networks

I'm coming up on my ten-year anniversary of reporting data into Wigle, it's pretty amazing that passing another 10 MILLION mark has become an "oh by the way" event.

Perhaps the kittens are a bit heavy into the catnip and just can't be bothered with such small increments?

Re: Capability flags and bitrates

Found some info in the Netstumbler FAQ: http://www.netstumbler.org/netstumbler-faqs/official-netstumbler-version-0-3-faq-t2875.html The flag field contains the 802.11 capability information in hexadecimal. It's documented in section 7.3.1.4 of the 802.11b spec. To save you having to go and look, the...

Re: Dirt Cheap Wardriving Rig

I picked up a cheap Vortex just for fun, and it is a nice compact stumbling rig. As a replacement for my aging iPod Touch 3G with WiFiFoFum, I am very happy so far! The GPS doesn't train up very quickly, but I am used to my Holux GPSlim-236 which trains in 15-20 seconds most days. It would be nice t...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

What would it take to support the Kindle Fire HD wifi model? My kids won one, and I was disappointed to see there are no stumbler apps for it. I've only had it for a day, so I am still looking at GPS connection and things that might make it impractical for stumbling. I'm happy to note that version ...

Re: WiFiWhere 1.0 for iPhone on app store

No WiFi scanner apps have been available in the Apple store since March of 2010. You'll have to jailbreak your device and run WiFiFoFum or WiFiWhere from the Cydia repositories.

Re: New dedicated Android rig

With a description like "once owning it, you will get most exciting experience and it will make your life more convenient" how could you resist! I'm interested to know how it works for you, I wouldn't mind a semi-permanent car installation to take the place of my iPod Touch 3 + WiFiFoFum. It's annoy...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Note: user 'anonymous' is the most popular, won't be getting rid of it :)
Boooooooooooooooooooooo.
Maybe you could triangulate a location and split 'anonymous' up into 'anonymousSTATE' or 'anonymousISOCountryCode''?

Nice video, but more importantly, did they POST their files to WiGLE?
