Re: strange 'lastseen' issue

the intended behavior is it "get correct" in the aggregate (both locally on server-side). individual measurements may be broken, but over time it gets more accurate. Bouncing off of buildings, temporary weather issues, and GPS failures all factor out over time. Since you're clearing your DB each tim...

Re: Is "list" view working ok ? map moving issue.

if you "swipe" the screen, you take over positioning control. You can tap the reticle icon (the crosshair) to re-establish dynamic updates, or switch tabs and switch back to maps to resume updates. This is a common ui convention, since otherwise you'd end up fighting the GPS when you wanted to explo...

Re: strange 'lastseen' issue

it looks to me like you have a GPS chip that reports "high" accuracy (GPS relies on accurate clocks) in spite of bad fixes. In this case, your chipset seems to have an affinity for the year 1999 (that's probably the year in which its design or parent design was initiated), and the chip or driver sho...

Re: Promote Free Open Mesh Networking

Keeping the WiFi networks you observe to yourself is absolutely your right. While seeing internet as a public good or even a right is a very forward-thinking idea (and in fact, WiGLE has helped promote open mesh and broadband initiatives in various places), it's also important to note that in some c...

Re: Keeping track of visited (wigled) places ?

"only mine" in the maps does a pretty bang up job of this for my uses. Combine with the date filter to know if it's due for another visit. You can arrange this in "Settings" on the app for tactical stuff.

Google Android 9 and up: We won't fix WiFi Scanning

In a blow to the networking, security, and wardriving hobbyist communities today, Google has officially marked their decision to throttle wifi scanning for non-Google software on Android 9 and up as "Won't Fix" in spite of popular community support for a configurable option. https://issuetracker.goo...

Re: Can you export Vistumbler to Wigle?

we haven't implemented it - sadly our parser core is in need of an overhaul, and we haven't had time to re-implement yet.

Re: Google Pie and Wifi Wardriving

that's interesting - nominally, Pie simply can't scan WiFi any faster - they limit it intentionally to 30s. Obviously, we're encouraging people to let Google know, but we haven't heard anything for a year now. I think a lot of people are carrying older devices, from before they nerf'd Androids scann...
