If you're going to be registering a group of users...

...you should probably contact us first. WiGLE combats harvesting attempts every day, but we love helping real users. Maybe drop us a line instead of tripping automated countermeasures.

Re: portable home-made war-driving gear

But how do you disable packet capture with kismet ? I am using kismet git version (currently r9322.de4869a4)-1

Code: Select all

logtypes=gpsxml,netxml,nettxt
in your kismet config, if you're using old kismet!

I'm afraid that isn't something we provide currently.

Re: Can I make my past uploads available for commercial use?

We've never had a request to allow commercial use retroactively. we don't really have a simple way of making that happen. Points are flagged usable (or not) to help support the project as they're logged, based on our user's stated preference. You can switch your status going forward here: https://wi...

Android 10 and your files

Yeah, we saw. Google introduced scoped storage sooner than expected - we're busy making sure you can get at your data in every way you need. Watch for release 2.52 for UI access, Unfortunately, they're doing away with "external" storage; better to save those old databases and CSV files off...

Re: portable home-made war-driving gear

We'll open-source that one if we ever get time to finish it. hardware-wise, it's based on the "slim-a-gotchi" chassis from the pwnagotchi project The Pandas card tunes fast without too much overhead in mon mode. software-wise, we're using kismet and gpsd. We're working around the limitatio...

Re: Map woes

sorry to hear that. Assuming you're asking about the web maps, that's a little beyond our control - ESRI is our maps provider, and while they're famous for the quality of their maps, they're not foolproof. Use current position is usually a browser-level setting - if you've disallowed it for privacy ...

I want more queries

WiGLE imposes a sliding scale daily query threshold on accounts. We do this because of the widespread efforts to abuse the project, circumvent our EULA and policies, and to keep our hosting costs under control. This means each day, each account has a fixed number of queries it can make against the &...

Re: Google Android 9 and up: We won't fix WiFi Scanning

you can probably run a Kismet variant/build on those, which already includes WiGLE upload export!

It would be hard for us to top Kismet in terms of power and flexibility!

Re: Import sqlite on Android 10

Also worth noting that as a consolidated file grows large, there can be a real impact on scanning and insertion speed due to the overhead associated with access. Your use case is up to you, but keeping the big file on Android can actually can make you miss networks. (I often use the existing import-...

Re: Import sqlite on Android 10

Yeah, we're pretty bummed by the filesystem API changes. Google is coming out against our Unix-style approach of exposing all the files to our users. This is going to take multiple stages to get things working in a reasonable way, but sqlite export is coming in 2.50, and we have a massive change set...

Re: Settings? We've heard of them.

aw, thanks! no stress, but we're happy to post if you have time. the problem is that the bounds for the image map will change in each language. honestly, if you have spare time, please help fix our translations in WiGLE Wireless for Android - there's a lot of Google translate in there! thanks!
