So what happens when...

Let's say I upload a log file without GPS data (possibly unintentionally, or maybe old uploads from before I had a GPS) that has a TON of AP's in it. I upload, get points for total AP's found, but not for AP's with GPS Data... Then... hypothetical situation: Let's say I later on drive the same area ...

That says it's for PocketPC 2003. I'm actually using Windows CE 2.11 Pro. I can find several apps for CE3.x, PPC2000-2003 and HPC2000-2003. Nothing runs on CE 2.x tho. :(

I do a block at a time, I'm talking big blocks, out here main roads are pretty much exactly a mile apart. So I will map within that 1 mile block. I hit google maps or mapquest (google maps pwns me) and I use the track mode on my GPS to make sure that when I'm done with a vlock, it looks the same on ...

No Outlet, Dead End, Not A Thru Street

Out here, each of these 3 has a different meaning. Dead End is used when there is one road that ends in a culdesac or goes down a bit then turns and ends. Here's 2 streeds I wardrove that has dead end signs: Linky No Outlet is used when there is one entrance/exit to multiple roadways. Just north of ...

Well, here I am, posting from my Jornada 680 via wifi. I had to use the "unofficial" Chompaq WL100 driver to get the Linksys card up and running right. The linksys driver seemed to be deaf, as it wasn't recieving any packets. Phase 1 is complete, but I still have to find some stumbling sof...

Well, a little update.

The linksys WPC11v3 drivers loaded fine. It recognizes the card and says it associates. DHCP Can't get an IP, and even if I specify it manually, it's not working. Everything is WEP here though. I might try it at a free coffee shop or shut off WEP for a bit at home to test.

Anyone done stumbling on CE 2.xx/3.xx (not windows mobile)

I just bought an HP Jornada 680 HPC (Laptop style clamshell PDA) running CE 3.x. I haven't gotten it yet, it's being shipped, but I was wondering if anyone had pointers: * Good PCMCIA wifi cards to use for CE? Driver availability? This has a full PCMCIA slot on one side and a CF slot that folds into...

Re: Use your own intarweb

... or go knock on the people's doors and ask them if you could use their network. You should see the look on people's faces when you do this. Fortunately for me, it was someone in my neighborhood that's seen be before, but you walk up, laptop tucked under your arm saying "I couldn't help but ...

Any client that logs a new line in the file each and every time it sees an AP will work. I've noticed that KisMAC doesn't do this (or didn't a year or so ago) and I don't think NetStumbler does either. My 'driving logs with dstumbler (part of BSD-Airtools) are something like 6-8MB each when I've bee...

Re: NOT NOT A THRU STREET

NOT NOT A THRU STREET I've found that many streets are labeled as "No Outlet" or "Not a thru street" even though they are. I used to avoid non-thru streets, now I try to hit as many as possible, because they might be thru, and If they are going to LIE about their street being th...

Actually, just keep driving the areas you drove before. After enough positions have been gathered, the AP will show up correctly on the map. I had this problem with BSD-Airtools. It wasn't recording the coordinates the same way other utilities were, and it was throwing all my gathered stations off.

Rock on! battery is factory new and I get more than 2 hours of runtime with the screen on and BSD-Airtools in full effect. Look out Johnson County, I'm back on the war path!
