excellent!

stavr0, that's awesome, thanks for the converter. You should post this over on the aspecto-software forums for Malcolm to see.

a magic spreadsheet

The author of WFFF is aware of the format issues, and is working on improvements for the next version. Check out the forums on www.aspecto-software.com, maybe chime in with your yearnings for a compatible wiscan file ;-) In the meantime, I built myself a spreadsheet that appeases the WiGLE.net uberl...

Sweet!

Looks like a nice setup -- I seldom use my iBook G3 for driving, though I should. Have you had better luck with the USB dongle than the Airport card (assuming you have one built-in)? Running with my original Airport card, standing in my kitchen running Kismac 0.12a I can pick up 3 or 4 weak APs that...

Awesome!

Wow, this is one awesome application. Just running it on my desktop with maps and such, can't wait to try it in the car while driving ;-) When I try to fetch a map from TerraServer, I get interesting .NET error pages. TerraServer tells me my Lat can only be -90 to 90, while all my APs are in the W92...

Lat/Lon conversion for WFFF

Excel formulas do the conversions in blood-simple fashion ;-) Latitude, raw input is in cell I7: =IF(I7>0,"N "&ABS(ROUND(I7,7)),"S "&ABS(ROUND(I7,7))) Longitude, raw input is in cell J7: =IF(J7>0,"E "&ABS(ROUND(J7,7)),"W "&ABS(ROUND(J7,7))) Thi...

The 2,000,000 celebration?

With less than 30,000 entries to go before the 2,000,000 mark, what's on tap for the big "2MM" celebration? Hopefully not just MGD ;-)

wi-scan with extensions flags definitions?

I realized tonight (with a loud gasp) that my by-hand conversion routine for WiFiFoFum logs to wi-scan-alike format was dropping the WEP flag. Gack, every AP I've uploaded has lost it's WEP status... Seems it's a hard thing to find 'the definitive guide' to wi-scan file formats.... I found this defi...

torrents of vectors...

MMmmm....torrents of vectors, sounds tasty. I'd be happy to leave stuff like that seeded for the masses.

WFFF logs are a bit broken

Malcom is still working on the wi-scan format logs for WiFiFoFum. If you are running 0.3.3, the wi-scan output has to be massaged to get it into Wigle. As saved, the logs are badly broken. Here's an example of what a WFFF file looks like after being modified into an acceptable format: # $Creator: Wi...

Garmin's work fine

I've been happy with my Garmin eTrex Legend. I use it with my iPaq 5450.

I'd really like to find a good BlueTooth-enabled GPS, but they seem to be less common in the US.

or is it mispriced?

Dropped it in my cart and it showed $199.99, status "on order"... :-( The related item, Streets & Trips 2005 Standard Edition, is $33.90 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=20361768&loc=0 ... on that page the related link to the pack with the GPS shows a total price of $233.8...

l@rry65173911099529256800x193

651 and 952 are MN area codes...people really don't comprehend that it takes only two searches to get an ADDRESS and NAME and a business name/address from this stuff, do they?

Gotta add that to my 'how to do wifi smart, you dork' write up ;-)
