Re: Best Android for WigleWifi

My little Samsung Core Prime will run 8+ hours as long as it doesn't get too warm. It is slow to GPS lock, but not more than 2 minutes usually. My S7 Edge easily runs for 4-5 hours on battery, have to keep the screen off on that one for better life. It'll get a GPS lock in my basement office in less...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Sidewalk isn't public WiFi, it's an alternate wireless network to let devices talk to your Amazon devices as a gateway.

It would be interesting to add detection of active Sidewalk devices in a stumbling rig, though I'm not sure if the protocols would allow for the right info capture...

Re: Amazon Echo et al: Will it increase the number of WiFis to be found?

I think this is the key: >Amazon Sidewalk uses Bluetooth, the 900 MHz spectrum and other frequencies to extend coverage and provide these benefits. Sidewalk is not WiFi, so it seems unlikely that a device looking for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac traffic will "see" a Sidewalk-enabled device. I imagine ...

Re: Suggestion: NMEA support in the WiGLE CSV Format

Managed to get the GPS sync'ed up, just had to poke a few settings to get everything happy again. The main bummer is that in the last WiFi driver update for the device HP broke the channel reporting so everything comes back on channel '858512' in WFFF. I had a case open with support for nearly a yea...

Re: Suggestion: NMEA support in the WiGLE CSV Format

Booya! WiFiFoFum 2.2.12 (c) 2007 on my Compaq iPaq, bluetooth paired to my Holux GPS, but sadly can't get WFFF to see the GPS signal, otherwise I'd be out stumbling for WEP APs this afternoon ;-)

Re: Suggestion: NMEA support in the WiGLE CSV Format

Thank you for bringing the word "sexigesimal" back into my consciousness! I don't think I've seen that used since my very early stumbling days when I was running a Compaq iPaq and had to do some Excel-formulationing to convert the output of whichever stumble-thing-app I was running to get ...

Re: Upload files don't show new discovered wifi's only file info

I stumbled with Apple gear while I could, but as you've noted it's just not practical. I run WigleWiFi on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and a Galaxy Core Prime on old Android OSs and they work great. Small with a powerful app that just works(tm). I wish things were better for the iPhone, but since WiFiFo...

Re: Text to Speech prompt at launch (Android 8)

Perhaps as expected, choosing "Just Once" when selecting either TTS engine causes me to see a prompt the next time I launch WWFi. Selecting either engine and tapping "Always" ensures the prompt does not appear the next time I launch WWFi. I also noticed that once an engine is cho...

Re: Text to Speech prompt at launch (Android 8)

I never use TTS, so this was new to me. Do I need to have all the speech settings off to not be prompted, or just accept the prompt to have it not appear again?

Text to Speech prompt at launch (Android 8)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935V) running Android 8.0.0 and Wigle WiFi v2.59. Also a Samsung Galaxy Core running Android 5.1.1 and WWFi 2.59. On both devices when I launch the app, I get prompted twice to "Complete action using" and a choice of the Google or Samsung text-to-speech...

Re: Y'all haven't been using airplane mode and it shows

Personally I find it interesting to see items I've discovered settle back into their rightful map-spot. Shows how we intersect in this big wide world. I really look forward to seeing the Bluetooth output on maps...I can only imagine how dispersed all those devices I've crossed paths with at one airp...

I'd entertain a screen capture of the map from that car-stunt section of the run ;-)

Re: Do vehicles use 5GHz APs?

I like this way of thinking, especially if you live on a busy commuter thoroughfare! Line up those old phones with WiGLE and a cheap camera app running, collect APs and LPs (license-plates) aplenty :-)
