Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Ive noticed with my Samsung Galaxy S2 running Gingerbread that the turning off the scanning doesn't seem to have any affect if Wifi is still turned on. I keep seeing points appearing on the screen and it still beeps if it detects new points. Phone is not rooted.

Re: My yard sale

This is from ages ago, do you still have any of this stuff or did it get binned? It's still here zip lock bag full. Want it all? Sure, as soon as I have a place for you to send it. I'm about 250 miles from my normal QTH. Not checking here as often as I should either. How much does it weigh all boxe...

Re: Ad-hoc networks starting with "HP"

Yes. All of the above. Also some devices running windows will advertise the last AP they were connected to as their adhoc name anytime they are powered on. I've noticed that the printers default to HPxxyyzz where xxyyzz is the last 3 bytes of the mac address.

Re: Call me stupid ...

Look at the section of the site for JiGLE and creating your own map packs in countries out side of the US. In the US, Maps are provided by our Govt under a public works license. If you look at OSM for instance, all of the USA is mapped from a huge data import they did from our Census Bureau. That is...

Re: User-Specific Map

I just realized that I was not paying attention when the JiGLE Application Update occured. So my above comments apply to 0.7.7 I have not yet tried it with 8.0.

Re: User-Specific Map

While not optimal, I've found if I use JiGLE, I can get a close approximation of what you are looking for. Select only found by you, then enable a date filter that covers a recent arbitrary date range, I try for a view that has a road I knew when I last drove it. When it appears/disappears, I've rea...

Re: question on if the parsing engine would make a connectio

Ok thanks, looks like I know what this winter's programming project is. When weather is ugly, merging those data files will look like a good use of time. some of those GPS traces have 15000 points at 1 second intervals.

question on if the parsing engine would make a connection.

Some background. I use the GPS primarily for road routing and I use a program to digitally split the GPS data stream into netstumber for its logging needs. So here it is, I was looking back though my logs and saw one NS1 file with about 800 AP's that due to a glitch at the time didn't have GPS coord...

Re: Maps of the UK

Likewise you could generate your own by uploading and downloading parts of OpenStreetMap.org. They have a good part of the world mapped already and are constantly updating more. I use them as a better reference than TIGER which is at worst 10 years out of date. The other downside to TIGER is somethi...

Re: just wondering.....

You can loosely find out for yourself, Download JiGLE, grab the Map Packs for Manhatten County, NY and whatever county Chicago is in then toggle back and forth updating them until no more points are added. the most points you can add in an update session is 64K but you can keep getting updates of th...

Re: web map plot error

ok, not sure if the same subsystem feeds points into the queries that JiGLE makes, but that seems to be hung up as well. Ive been at Querying points for about 5 minutes, and authentication was successful for that. edit 1) Never mind, restarting JiGLE seems to have fixed it. edit 2) gah no I jumped t...

jigle and cells

I was wondering if JiGLE/DiGLE database file would ever be upgraded to display cell towers. I realize that development is stopped on DiGLE, but I sometimes use it for the different sorts it allows from JiGLE. I'm more hopeful that JiGLE will be updated, but I also don't want to break the functionali...

web map plot error

I keep getting a web map plot error. If I specify an address, the map properly moves to the new location but no points are plotted. Also probably unrelated, I had trouble logging in via ssl, to the main site and had to drop back to non ssl to get access to post an upload file. After enting the passw...
