Is it time to swap the poking stick for a cattle prod?

Quite a backlog of files piling up.

— Updated: 12/1/2005 : 11:05am - I was just messaged by WiGLE staff that the file parsing is currently on hold at the moment while they finish completing some database work. Things will resume normally afterward.
Time to go wardriving!

— Updated: 12/1/2005 : 4:26pm - I just returned from my wardrive and the queue is up to 62 at this time.

— Updated: 12/1/2005 : 5:22pm - I've noticed that my current uploaded file has been restarted (and counting) and it looks like the parsing has been enabled!! - HOORAY! Long Live WiGLE! (Queue is at 66 - it is going to be a long night of crunching)

we do apologize for the slight latency in parsing.

we occasionally have to do some work to keep things running, which sadly impact incoming processing (yaay incremental design! :-)

if its any consolation we wear the poking-stick^sm welts and bruises as marks of shame, not honor.

Uploaded some files last night and they were at 60 in queue....

12 hours later the same files are at 9 and 10 in queue.

i was just wondering what are the specks of this server... do you know what the bottleneck may be?

i know its probably not this old but i may have some 256/512mb SD ram sticks laying around, as my work has been doing away with some old PCs.

Thanks

Keep up the good work!

we're working on getting hardware inplace. the requisitions committee and the acquisitions committee have to reconcile our 27b-6 forms to see who will actually get the purchase order into the PO department.

its not as easy as just throwing it in, unfortunately. its all wonky server gear and has to be got and staged and burned in and synched up and ... etc.

we're working on it as fast as life and circumstances allow, but thanks for the offer (and continued patience)

I have a couple of old Atari's I'd be willing to donate to the server farm. 8)

Looks like they took the file parser offline again earlier today. I've had one file processing at 0% since I last checked it around 10am this morning (it is 6pm now) :)

— Updated: 12/3/2005 : 11:16am - The file that was 0% yesterday is now at 45%, could be stop and go: (Queue is at 109)

— Updated: 12/3/2005 : 12:40pm - The file is now 85%, looks like the WiGLE train is once again chugging away: (Queue is at 114)

I've been keeping track of the updates I notice here
I currently use SuCKLE for my Queue monitor

It looks like the parser is working it just seems to be taking extremely long.

My files are moving up just under 20 spots in queue every 12 hours or so.
