Comcast said it was setting a monthly data usage threshold of 250 gigabytes per account for all residential high-speed Internet customers, or the equivalent of 50 million e-mails or 124 standard-definition movies.

"If a customer exceeds more than 250 GB and is one of the heaviest data users who consume the most data on our high-speed Internet service, he or she may receive a call from Comcast's Customer Security Assurance (CSA) group to notify them of excessive use," according to the company's updated Frequently Asked Questions on Excessive Use.

Customers who top 250 GB in a month twice in a six-month timeframe could have service terminated for a year.
Those are pretty high limits, but if I was paying for Comcast service, I would definitely lockdown my wireless network.

Well, it is and it isnt. Dont get me wrong, unlimited means unlimited. I had this fight with AT&T over dialup years ago.

For a normal user, 250G is actually an insane amount. For a business, it may not be. Now, they do say residential, but they dont mention whether its for the faster speed tier customers or not. I'd expect them to cap the slower speed line at much less, and give you the option to pay for the faster/higher cap, or be told switch to business. The thing about terminating your account is BS though, Comcast is a monopoly in an area, it's not like most people can just say fine, I'll get cablevision instead then, because it's them or nothing. Until THAT is addressed, I dont think any cable company should be able to say no to any subscriber for any reason other than outright theft. However, I have no problem with them, instead of threatening termination, just charge for the overage, like a cell plan would.

Comcast is also blocking port 1352. That's what port Lotus Notes runs on, and is causing Big Problems (tm) for my work.

After a 100 KM drive with my new bike 8) from Rotterdam to The Hague with 10.000+ access points file processing seems to be hanging... There are now over 85 files queued.
