ANDROID WIGLE - false positives?

As I drive day after day through the same corridor, there are always a couple dozen new points discovered. This trend hasn't ebbed, so it seems like I am being supplied with false positives?
I am wondering if I am picking up either 1) tethered phones and/or 2) corrupted MAC addresses.
Thoughts?

Also possible that you are actually finding new networks, since the device has to frequency hop to search for nets.
