Browsable web maps - what do the AP colors correspond to?

Talk about whatever

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere - I did find forum posts that say the AP colors corresponded with QOS (quality of service) data, but the AP colors on the web maps don't seem to correspond with that - I've driven roads that have been mapped by others, uploaded my data, and the colors of the AP dots did not change. Also the colors appear to be grouped together with clusters of pure green and pure brown apart from other colors. I would expect a mixture of colors if it were QOS, as no two people will find exactly the same APs. For instance:

Is the color of the webmap APs maybe determined by the program used to get the data?

It would help to post some kind of key on the browsable web map pages to indicate what the AP colors are - red=1 AP data confirmation, brown=2, green=3, etc.

the webmaps are currently colored by density, not QoS.
sort of.
right now.

AP colors do correspond to QoS in most of the WiGLE.net clients.
most of the time.

however, the webmaps are highly experimental and tend to change alot as they have to deal with the entire dataset, unlike the client-side clients available from
the download page.

a key's a resonable idea, we'll have to see what we can work out.
