Does anybody know if access points can scan for other access points. Are they in either AP or client mode? Just curious if a AP could scan for others and determine its location using something like Wigle....

Well, the hardware is there. The linksys boxes have a built in utility for scanning for nearby nets. If you wanted to, you could write something to run this, parse the results, and then query wigle for the locations of the nets you found. From there you could get a guesstimate as to where you were. However, keep in mind that the WiGLE database should not be relied upon for anything important. It's assembled from good and bad equipment alike.
