Looking for resources to help Identify Vehicle-based Wi-Fi
I have an application that generates position information based on Wi-Fi scan information (using a commercial Geo vendor) and I'm trying to improve the quality of the data I post (because garbage-in, garbage-out, right?) I don't need a rock-solid solution; any heuristic that helps me throw out significantly more vehicle hotspots than fixed hotspots from my scan results is useful to me.
So I'm curious whether anybody has compiled a list of either:
* OUIs (MAC Address prefixes) used by auto manufacturers for in-vehicle Wifi -- (e.g. "All Honda Wifi MAC addresses take the form AA:BB:CC:xx:xx:xx")
* SSIDs (or common SSID patterns) used by default in automotive wifi systems (e.g. "myChevrolet" or "CarPlay_XXXX" (where XXXX is some random hex value))
It would also be interesting to know if some manufacturers are known to use Locally-unique (vs Globally unique) MAC addresses. (See https://richardatkin.com/post/2022/01/1 ... ation.html if you don't know what this is)
