Hi,

Fairly new to wardriving and only downloaded the app a few months ago. I wanted to an intense / refresh drive-by survey of my local area (North West UK) for a project and interested in getting this set-up with my existing devices, ie laptop, powerbank, Raspberry Pi, Nighthawk A8000.

I can do a little bit of bash, Powershell, WSL, VMs etc but prefer copy / paste instructions as Linux language isn't my first ;-) so just looking for a relatively simple laptop set-up with my existing Nighthawk A8000 but not really looking to solder anything or buy new gear.

I have explored 'rig's on the forum and seen a few recommendations, like 'use Kismet' and the recommended self-build set-up "https://www.designer2k2.at/de/mods/elek ... ving-setup", but also seen that Kismet also doesn't really like WSL and won't run in Windows.

Any suggestions on relatively simple / temporary rigs on how to use my existing laptop / A8000 that don't involve buying new gear or knowledge of how Linux actually works?

Many thanks,
Jon

for Windows i used ages ago inSSIDer: https://www.metageek.com/inssider/
you need to also connect a GPS. in the end you can upload the logfile directly here.

Today, i would run a Kali-VM https://www.kali.org/ and then work with Kismet.

A little late but

On a laptop with a GPS usb, you can use kismet. There is now a wardrive mode, that is more light weight to run, but in whatever mode, this is not a problem on a laptop.

I am assuming a Linux OS here, or anyhting that is not Windows ...

On a rpi, you can try to run my little app https://github.com/solsticedhiver/ssid-logger. But that requires a minimum of knowledge to get it up and running
