What if somebody moves?

Here's another crazy thought. . . Say somebody moves, and takes their AP with them. Somebody triangulates the new position, but it's about 80 miles off of the old data. Does the new data just get ignored?

Type Variable in WiGLE Data

I've been studying data outputted by WiGLE, and I'm quite curiousity about the 'type' field. So far, I've found these for the possible values: infra, infrastruc, ad-hoc, BBS, turbocell, data, and probe. Would it be correct to assume that: infra=802.11 infrared access point infrastruc=Regular AP ad-h...

Bad Channel Data

Speaking of bad data, I thought there were only 14 channels, not 524,000 :-). Load up Chicago, IL. The MAC Address is 00:04:E2:38:50:DA. The SSID is 0211. It's supposedly on channel 524,288.

WiGLE Logo Copyrighted?

I'm currently writing a client program for the WiGLE database, and I wanted to check if it'd be ok if I used your logo on the splash screen and the about page in order to give credit to you guys for the maps and the database and stuff? No, I'm not selling this program, it'll be free for everybody, b...

Hmmmmmm

Well, I was gonna go and get my log files from netstumbler, and I hear this clunk clunk screeetch clunk clunk from my server. HD died, and of course my tape drive just happened to die on me about a week ago, so I have no backups. :( I'll redrive some of the areas that have issues, and I'll send the ...

Bad WEP Data

There seems to be a lot of bad WEP data on Wigle. I know for sure it's really bad in Peoria County, IL, but I'd imagine there's problems elsewhere. It seems to be random, as to whether your database says they have wep or not. I know for a fact that many of the ap's in your database don't have wep, b...

MapPack Version Variable

I'd be nice if in the next version of mappack files, a version number was added, so as wigle grows in the future, programs can appropriately parse ever changing data formats.

There are street names, but only for maybe about 2 roads in the whole area. . . the big ones. It may be beneficial to only add small street name data in the maximum zoom

Sooooooo, what all went down at the con?

What are the results from wwwd3? Didn't get a chance to make it to Vegas due to a bit of a financial situation, but I've been hungry for info all week, and it's only Monday! Also, does anybody know how the wardriving contest went?

Threshold on anomaly

How non-strange does the data have to be? I've picked up ap's as far as 8 miles away. Also, keep in mind boats can have aps.

Machine Friendly Log Upload

It'd be neat to have a machine friendly way to upload files to the database. Maybe a "simple" field to the upload post query thing would facilitate this? :o
