Feature feedback: turning scanning indictor into a button

Hey folks, we're looking at making the animated "scan" indicator in WiGLE WiFi wardriving into a button that starts/stops scanning... but we have questions about how it should work:

Re: Wont let me log in, says bad password

Wow, ok.

This should be fixed now; please re-test and confirm here.
This was (no lie) and error with improvements we made the make the API self-documenting and specific user characteristics. Our apologies for having so much trouble tracking this one down.

Re: Wont let me log in, says bad password

Random possibility:
I'm noticing that everyone who has posted about this has a capital first letter in their username. Does the username match the case that appears in the upper right-hand corner when you log into the site?

Re: Wont let me log in, says bad password

alright, we have some leads on this: specifically, I think we were reporting bad password when the network connection (not the password) was failing. Proposed fix up for you folks who build at home: https://github.com/wiglenet/wigle-wifi-wardriving/pull/182 The short version: check your data connect...

Re: Wont let me log in, says bad password

We've had a couple of reports of this lately - can you supply the following bits of information? 1. android version 2. what happens when you deauthorize and re-authorize 3. whether you allowed permission to "access photos and files?" (SD card access) Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience...

Re: Wigle API - Lookup by MAC address

Hi "testaccount123" - new accounts are limited by design - this prevents a number of malicious behaviors, and prevents a "tragedy of the commons" situation. I think you'll find that as you participate, your query thresholds will increase automatically. If you have a special proje...

Re: Huge uploads after reinstalls, bug or feature?

interesting, we're looking into it.
Do you allow SD card access, or are you all on-device?
It might be that you can avoid this by moving the DB marker to the "end" of the DB before scanning, but we shouldn't be losing that setting.

Thanks!

Re: Looking for a way to apply a BSSID/SSID filter from the URL

Re: Archiving, and site bugs?

would you be kind enough to give posting to site another try?

When scanning is paused, scans initiated by non-WiGLE apps still register (is that a bug?)

Isolated a weird problem today (thanks to several users who provided evidence for all the confusing parts of this one): If another application initiates a network scan while WiGLE WiFi is active, but scanning is paused, the results are registered and categorized by WiWiWa. We have a listener that re...

Re: LineageOS 14.1 and WiGLE WiFi Wardriving

hm, that's not good. If you visit the uploads or rankings views in the app, do they update correctly? (those both require working authentication)

Cheers,

Re: Wigle API - Lookup by MAC address

Hey strasharo - that endpoint was a part of the very, very old non-API. We tried to give everyone ample warning, but finally took it offline for good a few weeks ago. This allowed us to jettison some old, hard-to-support code, as well as improve efficiency and performance on all the queries people l...
