Re: RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

Could you post a larger image, or a link to a larger image? The one below is pretty tiny. Thanks! http://www.radiolabs.com/products/anten ... obile7.php ) OK, I got one of these yesterday, so let's give it a review, shall we? http://i.imgur.com/54FKHKls.jpg On the left: Radiolabs Model: "2.4mob...

Re: RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

You do bring up an interesting point. The images on the radiolabs site DO show superior coax. At the 2.4Ghz band, line loss will matter, significantly, in fact. Like you, I would REALLY like to find an optimal mag-mount antenna design strong enough to withstand high speeds (as I will undoubtedly hav...

Re: RadioLabs WiMag8 Mobile Magnetic Wifi Antenna

I'm not sure about that particular model, but I use an array of 4 of their "Mobile7" model ... and they're well-built. I only have one nit with them, and that's that they do not use a slightly better coax cable on them. The magnetic mounts and antennas themselves are great. (details at htt...

Re: Rasberry Pi

I use a Raspberry Pi with my "discrete" setup (Raspberry Pi, Alfa USB adapter, 12000 mAH batter pack, BU-353 GPS, 7dB magnetic mount mobile antenna)... It runs Kali Linux and works well. I just put a few instructions into /etc/rc.local to initiate gpsd, airmon and kismet server.

Re: GlobalSat BU-353-S4 GPS receiver

I bought my 353's in April. (I'm not sure if they're S4 or not). Depending on what software you're using (such as Linux/gpsd, or something else), it may have been put into binary mode (instead of NMEA) or the baud rate may be off. Have you verified both of those? I know that on Linux with gpsd, once...

Re: Wardriving playlists - post yours

I mainly listen to podcasts while driving around. If I listen to music I tend to get road rage..
That's a good idea.

Wardriving playlists - post yours

I certainly can't be the only one that has created a "wardriving" playlist on their iPod... If you've done the same thing, please post what songs you enjoy listening to while driving... I created the following one this morning: Fluke - Absurd (Reeferendrum) Moby - Southside (Hybrid Mix) Ni...

Re: GlobalSat BU-353 - good?

After reading a fair amount online, I went with the BU-353, too. After issuing one command to put the unit into NMEA mode, and adding "-b" to my gpsd script to run in read-only mode (-b), I haven't had a single issue. 100% satisfied with the BU-353. So much so I ordered a second one just t...
