Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

Great notes, Phlik 1. we've actually received a lot of requests for a "night-vision" mode which would include a pure-black background - Google keeps flirting with the concept of building a night vision mode into the OS, and we've been holding off to avoid duplication of effort. If they kee...

Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

We actually support the map tile "overlays" to show the dots for the network in the client - but downloading and display all individual networks as clickable, detailed records because prohibitive very quickly with mobile device processor, battery, storage, and mobile data limits. We're loo...

Re: Recover data from a run after app shuts down due to low battery.

Provided that the points were successfully written to your database, nothing should have been lost! You can reset your database pointer to try re-uploading the missing points, although the pointer should only get pushed forward once an upload has completed successfully (it should have tried to uploa...

Net Neutrality

We fought them on the beaches, we fought them in the courtroom. They're back for another round, and you need to act now. Congress can stop the latest sneak attack cold. consider making a few calls if you believe in a free and open internet like we do.

Re: Possible Android client issue

Weird - sorry, whatever it might be. You can always re-upload everything on your phone - if it's in your local database but hasn't shown up in WiGLE, this can force re-addition and re-positioning. I think I'd misunderstood your original post - if the SSIDs don't appear in search, then my ideas regar...

Re: Possible Android client issue

Hi Kilby, really sorry for the problem. any chance the "upload anonymously" box in your settings is checked? on your new phone, did you activate using the QR code or with manual username/password entry? does the username case match that of your userid when you log into the site? Sorry for ...

Re: Locating the discoverer of a specific network

Hi Minstarmin, I'm afraid we never give out observer information ourselves - user privacy is paramount... but you could post information here in hopes that the contributing user would help you out. If you're looking for the router, you may not need the discovering user - you can check the "netw...

Re: I must be stupid but can anyone explain how to do the following

Hi, Sorry you've had such a bad time with the site. Fundamentally, we're not an index of *free* WiFi - we try to be an list of *all* the WiFi, and we provide a facility for people to indicate that things are free (this isn't conclusive, just crowd-sourced). I'm surprised you're seeing too much data ...

Re: LineageOS 14.1 and WiGLE WiFi Wardriving

The exception on boot shows us that our work-around is working - we try and fail to initialize the old (standard) RSA keys, and if it bombs, we use AES - thanks for all the help.

Re: What does the red cracked lock icon mean?

the red cracked icon generally means that no WEP/WPA encryption was detected. The padlock icon is *just* an illustration of router encryption, we don't advocate connecting or testing security beyond simple broadcast-content evaluation. if you're asking about WiGLE WiFi Wardriving, the value should c...

Re: LineageOS 14.1 and WiGLE WiFi Wardriving

we've got a line on this, finally. It looks like Lineage has some differences in build/cipher support from the core android lines. We'll have a proposed fix in 2.26. Really appreciate the help on this - this was a REALLY difficult problem to debug, and we couldn't have done it without lots of feedba...
