Re: Wigle Wifi for Android: Suggestions

that sounds like a great feature idea!

I don't have a device myself, but the use case makes a lot of sense.
You can open an issue on github (or submit a PR!) against the WiGLE WiFi Wardriving project to get it faster, but we've added it to our feature log!

Re: Logged cells on v2.38

those have unique LTE identifiers - the MCC/MNC values (the first six digits) differ, even though the subsequent elements match. https://api.wigle.net/api/v2/cell/mccMnc?mcc=234&mnc=15 and https://api.wigle.net/api/v2/cell/mccMnc?mcc=234&mnc=10 are the corresponding API urls (you can hit tho...

Re: Android App isn't mapping WiFis while driving: Rarely displays dark blue and light blue "balloons" while wardriving

yeah - that's the issue. let them know what we think of this limitation! we figure most WiGLE users are pretty sophisticated, and we're *very* up-front about what we're doing. I'm guessing Google angry about the surreptitious collection (and the related battery drain) some apps employ to monetize th...

Re: Google Pie and Wifi Wardriving

haven't researched it extensively because we don't want to ask our users to risk security problems in exchange for network detection - but by all means, let's study and collect options!

Re: Android App isn't mapping WiFis while driving: Rarely displays dark blue and light blue "balloons" while wardriving

Is it running Android Pie?

Google has kneecapped WiFi scanning in Pie and has indicated they're going to eliminate it entirely, see this issue and star to tell them it's a problem.

Re: Question: Wigle start

ah, they've moved the preference: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-disable-persistent-notifications-in-android-oreo/ shows how to get to system notifications on Oreo. The notification in question is labeled "Network Available" on mine. I'm not sure whether the issue persists in ...

Re: Question: Wigle start

That may well be a translation error - we've had some excellent help, but some oddities get through! The english is: For best results, unset "Network notification" in "Wireless & networks"-> "WiFi settings" Cheers, and thanks for the help! -Ark PS> the translation v...

Re: Wardriving with RPI 3 B+, G-STAR IV GPS and Ralink RT5370's

the looks to me like you're getting GPS locations associated correctly - what are you seeing that concerns you?

Re: SSID uploaded not showing on map

that's interesting - there are a few possibilities: 1. it might not be trilaterating to the location you expect - have you used the search tool to make sure it's in the DB? If this access point is mobile, recently moved, or one of a number of "fake" BSSIDs that are commonly adopted (see 00...

You can also copy your database from device to device as well, if you want to maintain all your observations between phones!

Cheers, and thanks for your interest!

Re: Bluetooth on 2.36

we're working on it!

we'll probably still find centroids for BT signals, but we'll also increase focus on the gold- and silver-lining concave hulls you can see when you select a network in basic search, or on the static google maps in networks search detail.

Cheers,
