Holiday, of course.... I have to go somewhere the mobile phone won't find me, and preferably with 12 hours time difference from where I am currently... meaning I'm asleep when all the people here are awake. Last trip, since I saw that noone had sniffed around Perth, I brought my wardriving kit along...

Ack!
So I'm having problems with the DC-AC inverter in the rental vehicle here.... seems that the cigarette lighter socket isn't as deep as those in the US, so the power connector keeps popping out of the socket. No inverter means no preamp. Not good! Only found about 70 APs here in Heidelberg thus far, ...

My job 20040504-00077 appears to have hung up and died in parsing.
Just for grins, uploaded again today as 20040505-00049 and it's allegedly triangulating now. Hmmm.

Re: WiGLE hits 400,000 points!
Wow, 400k, just in time for defcon ! A big thanks to all our submitters, you are what makes this thing work. Onward to a cool half-million... Just got back from a road-trip to Tulsa, had Kismet running both ways. When it was all said and done, system said I found about 1,100 new actual APs, plus a ...
What does one of those preamps run price-wise? Why don't they put in some kind of protection so it just grounds outgoing signal or something? (Said with little electronic experience) I bought my preamps at a hamfest in Sunnyvale a couple years ago, was going to use them on 2.3GHz for amateur stuff....
Preamp Correction
Correction on the Preamp specification, it's not Pacific Wireless (that's the antenna source). The RF Preamplifiers are from California Amplifier. The two preamps I predominantly use are: http://www.calamp.com/pages/pb_part.php?prt_id=51 which is a +25dB gain preamp, and http://www.calamp.com/pages/...
