Heh. My inverter failed too. 8 hours of usage. No bad smoke smell. Just blew three fuses. Upon replacement of those three fuses, and replugging in of the inverter, it beeped continuously. Update: We do have a kind-of working passive mode for Atheros cards in Intel macs. It's in the latest dev builds of KisMac.
