Re: My Wi-Fi colour project
Hi, I have a wifi colour project for my fine art phd and I have chosen London, Taipei, Hong Kong, Chicago, and New York for my fieldwork. I am in Chicago now. Can I use your data in my project? Regards, gwrx If this is your only correspondence with the admins of this site, you probably just hit a r...
Comcast to limit customers' broadband usage
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080829/wr_nm/comcast_internet_dc Comcast said it was setting a monthly data usage threshold of 250 gigabytes per account for all residential high-speed Internet customers, or the equivalent of 50 million e-mails or 124 standard-definition movies. "If a customer exc...

does wigle need the GPS file for processing ? the csv also contains gps data Depending on how your equipment is capturing, you could have hundreds of unclaimed points in your GPS files. Either that, or you may upload your GPS file, and it could take an hour to process, and you may only get credit f...
Re: Update Frequency of Map Packs/Web Maps?
New points are added to the "Web Maps" every night around 3am EDT.I'm largely curious how often the maps on this site are updated with newly added access points?
Re: WiGLE in the News
"...upload new finds to sites such as WiGLE.net" http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/08/18/MNH312BTS1.DTL Finally... An article which is accurate in facts regarding what wardriving is, and explaining the difference everyone doesn't seem to understand. Good Article. I lik...
SMC 2532 and Senao 2511 are both good cards. They work well with Kismet, too. The only reason I would use the Orinoco card is if I was doing site surveys with NetStumbler, and needed accurate data (which will never happen). For collecting for Wigle, 200+ mW cards will suit you better. I also have so...
Re: Warcarting
A new addition to the wardriving family: Warcarting Not so low-profile. But with current gas-prices... Now, I appreciate the fact that this kid is a genius, and going to MIT. But this idea is stupid and obnoxious. Especially stopping and facing stores on the sidewalk, or going into stores with the ...
I've driven around 271 several times. I'd say most highways are covered, it just comes down to new points becoming available, such as new construction, and people moving or getting new technology. It also comes down to your gathering equipment, too. Here is a gif of my cleveland vs everyone map. (No...
8 hour wardrives? damn man, are you like a courier or something? I cant actually wardrive for more than an hour or so without getting bored :P With the exception of the long family trips we take, or my occasional trip to pick up something I got off ebay, most of my planned wardrives are around an h...
Each file has multiple locations for 1 point. The *.gps file from kismet is exactly what it is... a file filled with gps locations continuously as you are moving, and recording what is at each point. I'm roughly guessing at that. I have uploaded files in the past that have taken 70+ minutes to indiv...

Rig Pics: http://www.netstumbler.org/f10/how-get- ... ics-22072/
That was my rig when I went down to TX, OK, and LA. I had way too much free time on my hands, and I took a trip to TX and OK to visit a friend of mine. Right now I drive a truck across the country.

a bunch of what is recorded on the Web Maps in Shreveport was done by me. Downtown and some main roads. Some detail on the east side near the river, and northeast on the other side of the river was not done by me. The next towns over.. Longview, TX and Marshall, TX.. pretty much just me there, too. ...
