WiGLE WiFi 1.11 Error on Upload: "Fail Error: fail: null"
On occasion when uploading my networks to WiGLE using WiGLE WiFi 1.11 on an HTC EVO, I get the following error:
It seems to happen almost every other attempt. An attempt to upload immediately after succeeds. I haven't been able to find any real pattern, but if you would like me to try a few things to debug, just let me know.
Code: Select all
Fail Error: fail: null

It's usually when it doesn't have a network connection. If it's half between 3g and wifi, or just can't connect. We'll have to track down why the error message is null.
I have same problem with Desire.
When Wlan is up seems 3g is shuted down because wlan is stronger. And when wigle is running wlan is in ? monitor mode ? > isnt able to connect.
Is possible to run wigle without scanning ( pause/scan ) to upload results ?

We'll probably start doing that. But it seems to be a transition thing, as once a nexus one is done switching from 3g to wifi it can upload the file via wifi.
Not sure if this is helpful, but in one case when I tried to upload, I was in the middle of nowhere in a very large park, with no WiFi detected since the entrance. I don't believe my phone was switching between WiFi and 3G, and I had full bars of 3G signal. I was also streaming Pandora at the time, so I am confident that the connection was working.

Finally traced the issue down. Turns out we could fix with a server-side workaround, so this problem should be taken care of now.
