Now, I appreciate the fact that this kid is a genius, and going to MIT. But this idea is stupid and obnoxious. Especially stopping and facing stores on the sidewalk, or going into stores with the music playing. He's lucky the police didn't ticket or arrest him on any one of a handful of offenses. Suspicion of identity theft or public nuisance, or even stolen property. I doubt he bought that cart. This was specifically done to attract attention in an obnoxious sort of way. Not to mention how stupid it looks to be walking around with all of that stuff on a cart.A new addition to the wardriving family:

Edit: At least change the tires so everything doesn't rattle around while trying to go across brick sidewalks and roads. The PA system makes it obnoxious.
Also, just after I looked over this kid's website, in my random reading of news, there was a story on CNN video which he spoke about 10 seconds regarding bypassing paying for Boston's public transit system, and a mention of Defcon. He's going to get himself in trouble eventually.
I believe Warcarting is akin to Extreme Ironing. A tongue in cheek jab at wardrivers. If you notice, he has a USB dropper. He's more about getting logins than anything else.
As for the subway hack, they found a hack, and tried to get Boston to fix it, and promptly got a gag order. Hardly something I'd call appropriate considering they didnt exploit it, or release it.
His car, however, is a mass of epic fail. But then again, mine was like that when I was in college too. Lots of buttons, poorly done mounts, and hackjobs. The PA is just over the top, although, I admit, if I could have gotten one in college, I probably would have had one too. The strobes however, around here, are a good way to get yourself introduced to a tazer. Most of the local cops dont like competition to see who can be the biggest Farkhead.

I browsed the sheets from the defcon presentation and it seems the 'warcart' was an over-the-top response to the fact that the earlier attempts at looking for wireless and wired networks around subway premises went totally undetected. This was specifically done to attract attention in an obnoxious sort of way. Not to mention how stupid it looks to be walking around with all of that stuff on a cart.
He said it was retrieved from an abandoned garbage dump.I doubt he bought that cart.
