GPS Time out with IBM A30

I have been wardriving now for several years. I was using an old Sony Vaio with my WaveLAN Silver and BU-303 USB GPS which worked great. Then I upgraded to an IBM A30 and am experiencing Time outs with my GPS. Sometime I can go for 30 minutes before it will time out, but most of the time it is within a minute or two. These time outs occur in either Netstumbler or MS MapPoint depending on what I am using at the time with the GPS. I have tweaked, configured, updated and changed setting every which way in the software, hardware and port settings with no luck. I am reaching out for any suggestion that anyone can offer.

This exact same problem happened to me and 2 of my friends... in every instance, the contacts and what not were just getting worn out from use. Sounds crazy, but I suppose it's possible.
